How do I pick the right indoor plants?
Starting to build your own jungle can be daunting. There’s a lot of plant options around but comparatively little information on how to make sure you’re choosing the right plant for you and your home. We’ve compiled a list of questions to consider when selecting your first few plants:
Where do I want my plant to go?
You need to consider whether there will be a particular space in your home for your new plant. Bathrooms and kitchens offer a little more natural humidity by the nature of their purpose so these make optimal conditions for some plants. You need to consider the size of the space you’d like your plant to fill and whether a trailing, tall or small plant may work for you. You also need to consider the light conditions within the room, check out our blog to work out how to do this (link to light needs).
What type of look do I want?
Once you’ve decided on a home for your plant, you then need to consider what type of look you’d like. Considering whether stunning foliage, colourful flowers or spiky cacti are right for you and your space.
How much time do I want to spend on maintenance?
Naturally, some plants require a little more love and care to ensure they stay in ideal form therefore taking care of these plants can be a little more demanding than others. Check out detailed descriptions of each plant and a breakdown of their needs to help you make your choice.
Do you have pets or children to consider?
Whilst plants and pets happily live side by side there are some plants that can be potentially toxic to the people and pets you love most. We have a pet friendly section on our website. If any of our plants could potentially be dangerous for your little ones, we’ve made a note in our plant descriptions.
